Preparing for the College Transition
Launching a child can be a challenging time for everyone. This workshop prepares parents, caregivers & professionals for some of the inevitable hurdles that can present themselves during the Òcollege transition.Ó The workshop will provide you with tools and exercises to help you discern whose problem it is when it comes up, control you fears, and empower you to make decisions from a healthier base. Additionally, the workshop will show you how to navigate through the neurological potholes children go through when they mature and individuate. An essential workshop to help you prepare for the most important phase in childÕs life.


The Tr uth & Lies About Texting:
Understanding the Technological Effects on Our Children
Research tells us that adolescents and young adults are becoming great multi-taskers. They are far ahead of most adults ÒtechnologicallyÓ but lack important social skills Ð a direct result of cell phones and virtual communication. Participants will learn about the latest neurological findings for this age group, and the impact technology is having on their young adult brains. Learn about the typical behavior patterns, and what is causing them to develop poor interpersonal skills. More importantly, however, find out how you can counteract the negative influence technology is having on this young population.

Teenage Drug Use Ð The Facts & The Myths
Do you feel lost & confused about the adolescent drug scene? Have you been fooled by a teenagerÕs denial of drug use and felt as if your ignorance might have enabled them? This workshop will focus on the cycle of teenage substance abuse; weeding out the truth from fiction. It will also include an overview of the neurobiology of drugs and their effects on mood. In this workshop, you will:

- Learn about the popular drugs our teens are exposed to
- Identify characteristic signs of chronic drug abuse
- Be educated on appropriate boundaries with youth
- Examine healthy parenting skills vs. closed, enabling styles
